Strategy is a schedule: turning annual plans into weekly execution

The best strategy document is useless without a rhythm. Why the calendar — not the plan — is the real unit of execution.

Companies do not execute plans. People execute calendars. The annual strategy offsite produces a document; what produces results is the meeting rhythm that keeps the plan in front of the team for the other fifty weeks.

The three calendars that matter

Quarterly: a reset meeting where the roadmap is re-prioritised against reality. Monthly: a review of the two or three metrics that predict the quarter. Weekly: a short numbers meeting where blockers surface while they are still small.

The discipline that makes it work

The cadence must be boring. Same time, same agenda, same metrics, cancellations rare. The moment reviews become optional, the plan reverts to decoration.

One question per quarter

At each quarterly reset, ask a single question: what did we learn that changes the plan? Strategy that cannot absorb that question is not strategy — it is a wish with a timeline.
